In 1919, the day after the Treaty of Versailles was signed, the Tour de France rolled out again. Eugène Christophe wore the yellow jersey for the first time on the stage from Grenoble to Geneva. 100 years later, Suarez is celebrating this anniversary with a collection officially licensed by ASO.

The collection

Three jerseys, each with its own reference to Tour history:

The Maillot Jaune — a direct homage to the yellow jersey. Classic yellow, subtle details, no kitsch. The Le Drapeau picks up on the French tricolor and gives it a modern cut. Matching socks in Tour yellow.

Technically, all models are based on a two-fabric construction: different materials on the torso and sides for better ventilation and fit. Fully concealed zipper, silicone waistband at the hem, three back pockets plus an additional zippered security pocket. Reflective logos for visibility in low light conditions.

Why Suarez

Suarez is an official ASO licensee — the designs carry the Tour de France brand with the approval of the organizers. This is an important step for the Colombian brand: visibility beyond the South American market, linked to one of the biggest events in cycling.

Like everything else, the jerseys are manufactured by Suarez in Medellín. Italian fabrics, Colombian production, French license — an unusual combination that works.

Assessment

Santini produces the official race jerseys for the Tour. Suarez serves the fan market — but at a level that goes beyond typical replica goods. The material quality and workmanship are on a par with what Suarez also supplies for the Colombian national team.
