For most cyclists, lactate is the thing that hurts. In sports physiology it is something else: a fuel the body can use. Enervit and UAE Team Emirates XRG turned that into a product.
A two-year project
The team has tested the mixture since 2024. The two-year project was led by George Brooks, a leading lactate researcher.
The result is the C2:1PRO Lactate Gel Mix. It is a powder you mix with water. Each serving delivers 90 grams of carbohydrate and 10 grams of lactate.
Why this is interesting
The lactate share is the new part. Until now race nutrition has been almost purely carbohydrate, and the gut's absorption capacity sets the limit. That is why Enervit and UAE put two years into a second energy source instead of more sugar.
At the 2026 Tour de France, Pogačar drank the mix on his way to a fifth overall win.
What this means for you
Honestly: little for now. The Lactate Gel Mix is a race product from the WorldTour, and we do not carry it. What we do carry is the C2:1 line it is built on — gels, bars, Isocarb and chews with the 2:1 carbohydrate ratio of glucose to fructose. That is the base the pros ride on for most of their race days too.
