The Giro d’Italia has the most iconic jerseys in cycling. The pink of the general classification, the Ciclamino of the points classification, the Azzurro of the mountains classification — each one tells a story. Suarez is now launching these jerseys as an officially licensed collection.
The jerseys
The collection includes all classification jerseys in men’s and women’s versions. At the center is the Maglia Rosa — in the pink that has marked the overall leader since 1931. There is also the Maglia Ciclamino in cyclamen for the best sprinter and the Maglia Azzurra for the king of the mountains.
All models use the Avant cut: close-fitting but not restrictive. Laser-cut sleeves for a clean profile, four-way stretch fabric for freedom of movement, silicone waistband at the hem. The fit is designed for long days in the saddle — not a race jersey that pinches after three hours.
License, not replica
The designs are officially licensed — this distinguishes them from the usual replica goods on Amazon. Suarez uses the same materials and processes that go into the Colombian team’s national jerseys. Italian fabrics, Colombian production, in-house quality control.
The jerseys are available via the Suarez online store and via Cento Cycling, the US distribution partner in Portland.
Assessment
Castelli produces the official race jerseys for the Giro. Suarez serves the consumer market — but at a level of quality that goes beyond what you would expect from licensed goods. Anyone who watches the Giro on TV and wants to wear the pink jersey on their next ride is not getting a merchandising product here, but a serious training jersey.
