Scicon Aeroscope – Performance Cycling Sunglasses

The Scicon Aeroscope is a large-coverage sports sunglasses from Italy, developed together with WorldTour professionals for maximum adjustability and clear vision in the saddle. At its heart are the Scala™ temples and the Horizon Adapt™ nose bridge, which let you fine-tune length and height so the glasses work perfectly with your helmet. The SCN-PP lens provides reliable UV protection and maintains clear vision longer thanks to hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings. The central VenteX™ ventilation channel directs air behind the lens without irritating your eyes, and the 12° Panto Tilt ensures the right viewing angle in riding position. The bio-based TR90 frame material made from plant oils reduces environmental impact while remaining robust and lightweight. At around 35g weight with an XXL lens, the Aeroscope delivers plenty of field of vision with high wearing comfort.

Technical Details and Features

The Aeroscope uses a cylindrical mono-lens with 67mm height; depending on the version, front width is around 142mm and lens width 133mm – ideal for wide field of vision on road bikes or gravel bikes. The Scala™ temples can be extended in fine increments from about 120–130mm and individually bent so nothing interferes with the helmet retention system. Via Horizon Adapt™ you can shift the nose bridge up to 5mm up or down, which noticeably expands the field of vision depending on riding position. For tints, the VLT range spans from dark options like Multimirror Blue (approx. 11%) through all-round variants like Bronze (approx. 17%) to lighter tones like Pink (approx. 50%); the Photochromic lens covers approx. 22.5–90% (Category 0–2). For prescription needs, the glasses are compatible with the RX Insert AC028, and numerous spare parts are available. Additionally, Scicon offers a programme for lifetime replacement of scratched lenses, which sustainably protects your investment.

Applications and Benefits

Whether daily commuting in Zurich, long Alpine passes or fast intervals on the triathlon bike: The Aeroscope is designed for road, gravel and triathlon. The central ventilation keeps air circulating without blowing directly on your eyes, which is particularly pleasant for sensitive eyes or hay fever sufferers. Some testers mention that the outer frame corners can occasionally be visible during shoulder checks – but the large lens provides excellent coverage and clear imaging in return. Thanks to the adjustable temple length, the glasses sit securely even when the helmet is tightly adjusted, and stay firmly in place at high speeds. In changing light conditions, such as in forests, tunnels or with fast-moving clouds, the Photochromic lens plays to its strengths.

Fit, Package Contents and Care

The glasses wear lightly, and the adjustment options make fine-tuning easier for different face shapes and helmets; individual reviews found the nose bridge subjectively less comfortable, which you can compensate for with the height adjustment. Often a clear replacement lens is included in the set, and the lenses can be changed quickly thanks to the central closure; transport is in a soft protective sleeve or case, depending on the version. For repairs and customisation there are replacement lenses, replacement frames and nose pads in several colours, which extends the service life. Clean the lens preferably with clear water and dry it with the microfibre pouch so the coatings remain intact for longer.
