Pissei’s most important products are not made on a production line, but in a workshop. The Custom Lab in Pistoia is the place where prototypes are sewn by hand, fabrics are tested and cuts are adapted to individual riders. It is complemented by a development department in Cremona, where wind tunnel data is translated into patterns.
TT-Suit: The fastest suit in the peloton
The time trial suit from Pissei is made individually for each rider. Tested in the wind tunnel, tailored to the body and riding position of the individual athlete. No two suits are the same — what works for Pogačar won’t work for Almeida.
Development follows an iterative process: sewing a prototype, testing in the wind tunnel, adapting, testing again. The cycles are short because everything happens under one roof — no shipping to Asia, no waiting for samples.
Hybrid Suit: from the wind tunnel to the road
The Hybrid Suit combines time trial aerodynamics with road comfort. Pogačar chose this suit for the Tour de France 2023 and for the one-day classics. The idea: use aero advantages throughout the day without losing the freedom of movement of a classic jersey.
100 percent Made in Italy
The entire production chain is in Italy. Fabric selection, cutting, sewing, quality control, shipping — all in Tuscany. This is unusual in the cycling market. Most competitors manufacture at least parts of their production in Asia. Pissei retains the all-Italian production for its series products too — and not just for the professional kits.
Assessment
The Custom Lab is Pissei’s real competitive advantage. Not the logo on the chest of a WorldTour rider, but the ability to build, test and revise a prototype within days. Speed in development rather than speed in mass production — a model that only works if everything happens in one place.
