Technical Details and Features
The heart of the Spectro is the ZEISS lens with Anti-Reflective coating, which minimises reflections on front and back surfaces and visibly improves contrast and definition. The four precisely positioned vents promote air circulation between frame and lens, which particularly reduces fogging during climbs, stop-and-go or humid weather. The cylindrical lens ensures wide peripheral awareness, while the scratch-resistant surface confidently handles the tough daily training routine. For the photochromic version shown here, KOO specifies VLT 71–15% and filter category 1–3; additionally, the model is very light at 37 g and therefore comfortable to wear even on long stages. The Spectro meets common eye protection standards ANSI Z80.3, AS/NZS 1067.1 and EN/ISO 12312-1, which is documented by EU declaration of conformity.
Applications and Benefits
On the road and in triathlon, the Spectro fully demonstrates its strengths with great coverage, high stability and clear vision. The ventilation concept shows its effectiveness especially in humid conditions or at low speeds, which testers in specialist media highlight positively. Thanks to clear optics and secure fit, the glasses are suitable for both fast intervals and long base training rides over Alpine passes or along Lake Zurich. Those who frequently ride in changing weather benefit from the wide usable light range of the photochromic lens, without constantly having to change lenses. The universal size covers a broad spectrum of head shapes and can be additionally fine-tuned with the optionally available Low-Nosepad.
Optional: Fit, Care and Compatibility
The Spectro comes with a Nosepad-Bridge included and can be retrofitted with a Low-Nosepad from the accessory range if needed to optimise the fit. For permanently clear vision, cleaning under lukewarm water and subsequent drying with a soft, lint-free cloth is recommended; this keeps the Anti-Reflective coating effective for a long time. Due to its low weight and balanced load distribution, the glasses sit stable even with vibrations, which is noticeable on rough Swiss side roads as well as on cobblestones. The fact that the Spectro continues to be used in the professional environment and utilised as a platform for team editions underlines its performance claim in current cycling sport.
