The Technium L-PH in matte black is the semi-rimmed, ultralight sunglasses from Shimano's Performance line – made for road, gravel and trail. The grey Photochromic lens automatically adapts to changing light conditions and covers a wide range of visible light transmission (VLT 17–85%). The one-piece, wide lens design with ventilation slits keeps your view clear and reliably protects against wind and kicked-up particles; a hydrophobic coating makes water and sweat bead off faster. At around 26 g weight and with UV400 protection, the sunglasses are suitable for long training rides as well as daily bike commutes. According to Shimano, the frame and lens are made with 45% bio-based Rilsan G850 Rnew to reduce emissions in the manufacturing process.

Technical Details and Features

The new BPA-free polyamide lens has a higher Abbe value and a lower refractive index – this increases optical clarity, boosts contrast and reduces glare. Shimano's RIDESCAPE optics are tuned for Road (RD), Offroad (OR) and Gravel (GR); the PH variant automatically regulates transmission based on UV intensity. Strategically positioned ventilation slits reduce fogging, while the hydrophobic coating repels water and dirt. The interchangeable lens system is designed for practical use; depending on the version, a clear spare lens is included to extend usability at dusk, for night rides or in winter conditions. The reversible nosepads and the soft, curved temple grippers ensure a stable fit and a comfortable, adjustable fit under current MTB and road helmets.

Materials and Sustainability

Frame and lens are made with 45% bio-based Rilsan® Clear G850 Rnew, a transparent polyamide technology that Shimano says reduces the CO₂ footprint in the manufacturing process. The BPA-free polyamide lens supports a clearer, higher-contrast view with less stray light – noticeable on road, gravel and singletrack. Together with the hydrophobic and scratch-resistant coating, the lens stays cleaner longer and is more resistant to everyday scratches.
