The Assos TRAIL Jersey T3 is an evolved all-mountain jersey that combines the breathability of classic road cycling jerseys with the durability of genuine trail apparel. For the T3 generation, Assos has refined the trailFit cut: more room in the chest area, a slightly longer front/back section, and new set-in sleeves instead of raglan for more precise body coverage. The main material is called Triangle – a circular-knit, laterally elastic fabric with UPF 35 and noticeable abrasion resistance; at the collar and sleeve cuffs, the Majestic textile provides a soft, moisture-wicking finish. The jersey is cleanly constructed to typical Assos quality standards and available in sizes from XS to 3XL, in seasonal colours like blackSeries, torpedoGrey, or Schwarzwald Green.

Technical Details and Features

The Triangle fabric is an interlocking circular-knit material that gives laterally and thus supports active movement on technical trails without stretching out vertically. The feel is soft, yet the material is notably abrasion-resistant for an MTB jersey and offers UPF 35 for sunny days in the Swiss Alps or Mittelland. The set-in sleeves of the T3 generation map shoulders and upper arms more precisely, improving fit with or without a backpack. At the collar and sleeve ends, Majestic provides a comfortable, moisture-wicking feel when it gets warm or the final descent takes longer. Additionally, the manufacturer communicates a 2-year warranty and a crash policy for extra security.

Applications and Benefits

On singletrails, flow trails and longer XC rides, the TRAIL Jersey T3 plays to its strengths because it's light, breathable and yet resilient. The slightly longer torso improves coverage in active riding position, especially when you're frequently out of the saddle on steep terrain. For complete trail kits, Assos recommends combining with TRAIL Liner and TRAIL Cargo Shorts, or for a tighter-fitting gravel combo with the ZEPPELIN shorts. This allows the jersey to cover a broad spectrum from after-work rides around Zurich to bike park days and Alpine weekends.

Fit and Size Selection

The revised trailFit geometry of the T3 version is deliberately comfortable – particularly in the chest area – and is constructed slightly longer in the torso. This aims for better freedom of movement and a calm silhouette on the trail. Independent tests point out, however, that the space under the arms can still be more limited depending on build, and recommend potentially sizing up for those who prefer a very loose fit. Our experience: those who want to wear protection underneath or are between two sizes often benefit from the larger option.

Materials and Care Instructions

The short-sleeve model consists of 94% polyester, 5% polyamide and 1% elastane according to the manufacturer – a blend that promotes fast drying times and dimensionally stable elasticity. The UPF 35 rating supports sun protection on hot days, but doesn't replace additional skin protection. For long lifespan, washing at low temperatures is recommended, along with quick air drying and avoiding fabric softeners to maintain moisture-wicking properties. Thanks to the robust fabric choice, the jersey is built for frequent use and reliably stays in shape even after many vertical metres.
