Assos RSR Speed Socks S11

The Assos RSR Speed Socks S11 are aerodynamic cycling socks for road cyclists who prioritise performance in hot conditions. Developed with feedback from the WorldTour, this model combines a special knit material on the lower leg with a quick-drying foot area. The 18 cm high cuff is UCI-compliant and ensures stable positioning during racing thanks to its grippy finish. This reduces air resistance without compromising comfort, and complements setups where overshoes aren't an option. The S11 generation has been specifically refined compared to previous versions in terms of material and construction to balance aerodynamics, ventilation and grip. Assos clearly positions the RSR Speed Socks S11 in the racing collection for maximum efficiency on the lower leg.

  • UCI-compliant 18 cm cuff with grippy finish

  • Foot area made from quick-drying yarns with Circular Seamless construction
  • Developed with WorldTour feedback for racing use
  • Available in two variants (depending on availability)
  • Assos sizing 0–III for precise fit

Technical Details and Features

The lower leg features 550CX, a breathable bi-stretch warp knit with natural flow guidance and skin-tight fit. The foot area consists of yarns that quickly wick away moisture and promote cooling airflow, so aerodynamics and wearing comfort work together. The 18 cm high cuff is designed to meet UCI regulations and extends the aerodynamic effect without requiring silicone prints. The Circular Seamless construction in the foot reduces friction points and ensures a smooth interior in the shoe. Material specifications: Foot 80% polyamide, 10% polypropylene, 10% elastane; ankle/lower leg 82% polyester, 18% elastane.

Applications and Benefits

The RSR Speed Socks S11 show their strengths in road racing, criteriums and time trials, especially when overshoes aren't allowed or temperatures rise. The combination of textured cuff material and defined cuff height aims to optimise airflow on the lower leg. Higher, textured socks are generally considered aerodynamically advantageous, as long as they respect UCI regulations for maximum height. The UCI has specified the measurement method for sock lengths since 2019, which is why an 18 cm cuff is established for compliance and consistent control in competition. This way, ambitious cyclists benefit from noticeably stable positioning and potentially reduced frontal area on the leg, without taking regulatory risks.

Fit, Size Selection and Variants

Thanks to the elastic knit construction, the sock fits close to the skin without slipping and harmonises with tight-fitting racing shoes. Assos offers the RSR Speed Socks S11 in the established sizing 0–III, which simplifies selection for narrow to robust foot shapes. For Swiss racing and training everyday use, the lightweight version is particularly suitable for warmer days when ventilation and moisture wicking are priorities. The model is available in two variants, so you can choose the right version depending on your team kit or personal setup.
