The React Rev Ruby is a Swiss Made sports sunglass that automatically adapts its tint to changing light in just 0.1 seconds. This is made possible by the patented ShadeTronic technology, which operates without a battery and is powered solely by integrated solar cells. The UV400 lenses are polarized, provide protection from UVA, UVB and UVC rays up to 400 nm and are also scratch-resistant and shatterproof. For cycling in Switzerland – from road bike to Gravel to MTB – the Ruby mirror provides a high-contrast view, especially for bluish details on asphalt, gravel and trail.

Technical Details and Functions

At the core is the responsive ShadeTronic lens: liquid crystals electronically control the tint and switch in under one tenth of a second between medium, dark and very dark. Compared to conventional photochromic lenses, the lenses darken up to 300 times faster and clear up to 1200 times faster, which preserves focus during rapid transitions from sun to shade. The tint range covers S2 to S4 and is powered solely by the light energy of the integrated solar cells – no charging required. The frame allows fine-tuning via adjustable nose pads, adaptable temple ends and an adjustable frame tilt for a secure fit with a helmet. Additionally, UV400 filters, Polarization and the robust, scratch- and shatter-resistant lens provide protection, while manufacturing relies on Swiss precision.

Applications and Advantages

The Rev Ruby plays to its strengths wherever lighting conditions change rapidly: alpine passes with tunnel entrances, shady forest trails on the MTB or changing light on a Gravel ride along lakes and woods. The Ruby mirror coating enhances contrasts on asphalt edges, root sections and gravel, which makes line choice easier. In independent tests the extremely fast adjustment was convincing; it was noted, however, that the lenses do not become completely clear and can tend to remain somewhat dark in twilight situations. Also make sure not to permanently cover the top-center light sensor, for example with very deep helmet visors, so that the automatic system works optimally. For road bike, Commuting and long daytime tours the Rev Ruby thus delivers a calm, high-contrast view with noticeably less eye strain.

Service, Fit and Scope of Delivery

Thanks to the adjustable contact points, the glasses can be comfortably adapted to different face shapes, which is especially relevant for longer bike rides. Those who need vision correction can easily complement the Rev Ruby with the matching prescription clip, which is individually fitted with lenses by the optician. The scope of delivery includes a case and a cleaning cloth, so the glasses stay protected and cared for on the go.
