Technical Details and Functions
The Rev uses an LCD-based system: photodiodes convert infrared radiation into electrical energy and thereby control the tinting of the display in the lens. This lets the glasses react without delay to changing brightness, entirely without a battery – practical for everyday use and long rides. The tilt angle of the frame can be adjusted as can the nose pads (two positions) and the temple ends, which optimizes contact and reduces fogging. The sky lens with blue mirror coating increases contrast for reddish details, while the polarization reduces reflections on wet asphalt, water or snow. With UV400 and tested standards including CE/EU 2016/425, ANSI Z80.3 and IP65, the glasses are engineered to be robust for sporting use. The total weight is around 40 g, which combined with even weight distribution provides a stable fit even on rough surfaces.
Use Cases and Benefits
The Rev Sky Black S plays to its strengths wherever light and shadow constantly alternate – for example on rooty MTB trails, in the Gravel flow through the forest or when changing direction quickly in urban traffic. The extremely fast tinting adaptation keeps the view steady and details visible, which noticeably supports safety and the sense of speed. For rides at dusk the base tint remains comparatively dark; for true night or twilight rides a clear spare pair is advisable. On road passes the polarization reduces glare from sun and snow, and when commuting UV400 provides reliable protection; the S2–S4 range is also approved for driving. Thanks to its adjustable geometry the glasses sit stably under modern helmets; the light sensor placed centrally at the top also works reliably with larger visors. These practical impressions were confirmed in independent tests.
Notes on Fit, Care and What's Included
The described S-Version (Small) is the smaller frame variant of the Rev and is suitable if you prefer a more compact coverage or if you fall between two sizes. The package includes a hard case and a cleaning cloth; for care, lukewarm water and a soft microfiber cloth are sufficient, aggressive cleaners should be avoided. For glasses wearers a suitable prescription clip is available, which your optician will fit individually. The Rev is fully functional down to –20 °C, which also makes it attractive for winter training and snow sports. Thanks to Swiss Made production you benefit from precise workmanship and durable materials – a solid choice for frequent female and male riders in everyday Swiss cycling.
